RingCentral
</div></var> app
============================================================================================================

You can transfer calls to another person, extension, or phone number. There are three types of transfers:

* **Warm transfer**: Speak to the recipient before completing the transfer. Also known as a consultative transfer.
* **Cold transfer**: Transfer the call without speaking to the call recipient first.
* **Transfer to voicemail**: Send the call directly to the recipient's voicemail.

Where do you want to transfer a call?

## Desktop & web

Transferring calls in the desktop and web app
---------------------------------------------

Calls can be transferred from the phone's keypad and from the [HUD (Heads-up Display)](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Transferring-a-call-in-the-RingCentral-app.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US&pills-nav=desktop_%26_web#using-the-hud "").

### Warm-transferring a call

In a warm transfer, the caller ID of the original caller will be displayed to the recipient.

* While on an active call, click **Transfer**.
* Enter a name or number into the search field or use the keypad.
* Select the person or extension (a), then click **Ask first** (b).

### Cold-transferring a call

In a cold transfer, the caller ID of the extension making the transfer will be displayed to the recipient.

* While on an active call, click **Transfer**.
* Enter a name or number into the search field or use the keypad.
* Select the person or extension (a), then click **Transfer** (b).

### Transferring a call to voicemail

When you use transfer **To voicemail**, the call goes straight to that extension's voicemail inbox. It doesn't follow any call forwarding set up on that extension.

For example, your extension (Ext. 22) forwards all your calls to Ext. 33. If someone transfers a call to your voicemail instead of to your extension, the message goes to Ext. 22's voicemail inbox, not Ext. 33's.

* While on an active call, click **Transfer**.
* Enter a name or number into the search field or use the keypad.
* Select the person or extension (a), then click **To voicemail** (b).

* While on an active call, click **Phone** in the navigation bar.
* In the **HUD** tab, hover over the name of the user you'd like to transfer the call to.
* Click the **Transfer** icon, then select the transfer type:
  * **Ask first** : Talk to the call recipient before you transfer the call. When you're ready, click **Complete transfer**.
  * **Transfer**: Transfer the call without speaking to the call recipient first.
  * **To voicemail**: Transfer the call directly to the selected extension's voicemail. Note that if that extension has call forwarding turned on, the voicemail still goes to the selected extension's voicemail inbox.
