Using the dialpad in the RingCentral app

Last updated on May 17, 2022
You can use the dialpad in the RingCentral app to make outgoing calls to other users and external numbers. The dialpad is also where you’ll find all your call controls while you’re on a live call.
In the RingCentral desktop or web app, you can access the dialpad at any time by clicking on the Dialpad icon at top right to pop the dialpad out into a window.

Using the dialpad

When you open the dialpad in the desktop and web app, you’ll find the following options important for making outgoing calls:
  • Enter a name or number: Type a name or number in this field at the top to populate a list of options to choose from below. To dial that name or number, simply click on one of the numbers in the list to start a call
  • Call from: Select on the downward arrow to populate a list of Caller IDs you can choose from. This is the number the person you’re calling will see
  • Recent calls: Select the clock icon to populate a list of your recent calls. If you’d like to callback a person from your Recent calls list, simply select that number from the list to start a call
  • Dialpad: Press the numbers on the dialpad to dial a number and then press the green button to start a call.
Once you’re on a live call, the dialpad will have a different set of options available related to managing your call. To learn more, visit Understanding call controls in the RingCentral app desktop and web.
