Making a call in the RingCentral app for mobile

If you have the phone features enabled in your account, you can call colleagues within your organization as well as external phone numbers.

Requirements for making calls

  • RingCentral mobile app (Android 7 and above or iOS 12 and above)
  • If you have a digital line, your emergency address has to be up to date, or you will only be able to call people within your company.
  • Emergency calls placed from the RingCentral mobile app are handled by your cell service carrier. Some mobile devices will require that you grant permissions to the RingCentral app to dial using the built-in dialer.

Making a call

There are two ways you can make a call in the RingCentral mobile app:

  • Tap the Phone icon next to the name of your contact anywhere you see it in the app.

Using the dialpad

You can access the dialpad by tapping the Phone icon in the bottom menu. 
 
Using the dialpad in the RingCentral app for mobile gives you two ways to make a call:
  • Contacts: Tap the Enter a name or number field to open the keyboard at the bottom. Then type a name to search for a contact you wish to call. 
  • Keypad: Enter or paste a number to dial.
Under the dialpad, tap the From button to select what number you prefer to show up as your Caller ID.
 
Once you’re on a live call, the dialpad will have a different set of controls available.
