Changing your virtual background in the
RingCentral
app
=========================================================================================================================
You can personalize your video meetings by displaying an image as your background during a meeting. You can generate a custom AI background with a prompt, upload your own file, or choose from the default background options. The background you select will be used for future video meetings until you change it.
Where do you want to change your background?
## Desktop & web
Setting up a virtual background in the desktop and web app
----------------------------------------------------------
Before using a background, make sure your device meets the [system requirements](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/RingCentral-Video-system-requirements.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "").
* In the navigation bar, click **Settings**.
* Click **Video** in the left panel.
* Click **Edit** to the right of Video meeting settings.
* You can also click **More** (a) during an active video meeting and click **Settings** (b).
* Click **Background**.
* Set up your background with the following options:

* **Upload** your own background image
* **Blur** your background
* Turn backgrounds **Off**
* Click the icon to **Mirror my video** (a)
* Select one of the themed backgrounds provided (b)
Creating a custom background
----------------------------
When you're signed in to the RingCentral app, you can create a custom AI background..
* In your Background settings, click **Create**.
* **Pick a theme** to use as a starting point, and type any details you want included in the background.
* Click **Create** .
* After some time, options will be generated for you to choose from. You can:
* Edit the prompt and regenerate new images (a)
* Regenerate new images based on the original prompt (b)
* Choose the image you want to use and click **Apply**.
* The image will remain your background image until you change it, and will be saved in **My backgrounds** .

Setting up a virtual background in the mobile app

Before using a background, make sure your device meets the [system requirements](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/RingCentral-Video-system-requirements.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US&pills-nav=mobile "").
* Tap your **profile picture** at the top left.
* Under Settings, tap **Video**.
* Under In-Meeting Settings, tap **Background** .
* You can also set up a background during a video meeting by tapping **More** in the meeting toolbar (a), then selecting **Background** (b).
* Set up your background with the following options:
* **Create** a custom AI background
* **Upload** your own background image
* **Blur** your background
* Turn backgrounds **Off**
* Select one of the themed backgrounds provided
* **Flip** your camera view to face outward
* Tap the **Back** arrow in the top left corner when you're done.
