RingCentral

Hosts of a
RingCentral
Video meeting can use the [Breakout Rooms](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Creating-and-managing-breakout-rooms-in-RingCentral-Video-for-desktop-and-web.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") feature to split attendees into smaller groups.
As a meeting attendee on the
RingCentral
app for desktop, web, and mobile, or
RingCentral
Rooms, you can join and participate in breakout rooms and return to the main meeting whenever you wish.
Select where you'd like to participate in breakout rooms:

How to join a breakout room during a meeting in the
RingCentral
desktop and web app

When the host starts breakout rooms, you'll automatically move into a breakout room with other meeting participants.
If the breakout room is being timed, a timer counting down the remaining time will appear in the room. The room will close when the timer finishes counting down, and you'll automatically redirect to the main meeting.
How to chat in a breakout room during a meeting in the
RingCentral
desktop and web app

If the host or moderator has allowed participants to chat, participants can message their breakout room publicly, or send private messages to other participants, or the meeting host or moderators.
* Click **Chat** in the bottom menu bar.
* Select your recipients.
* **All rooms**: View any public messages sent to the entire meeting by hosts or moderators.
* **This room**: Send a public message to the participants in your breakout room.
* **Privately** : Send a private message to a participant.
Note: You can also chat privately with the meeting host or moderators by clicking **Contact Host** at the bottom of the window.
* Type your message and click **Send**.
How to leave a breakout room during a meeting in the
RingCentral
desktop and web app

You can leave a room by doing either of the following:
* Click **Leave** and select **Return to the main meeting** to leave your breakout room and return to the main meeting.
* Click **Leave** and select **Leave meeting** to leave both the breakout room and the main meeting. If you want to return to the main meeting, you must re-join.
* Click **Cancel** to remain in the breakout room.

* Tap **Return to main meeting** to leave your breakout room and return to the main meeting.
* Tap **Leave meeting** to leave both the breakout room and the main meeting. If you want to return to the main meeting, you must re-join.
* Tap **Close** to remain in the breakout room.
