Using chat during a
RingCentral
Video meeting

Some RingCentral Video features and meeting controls may appear differently depending on your account. With the in-meeting chat, you can send a public chat to everyone in the meeting, or a private chat to individual participants.
Select where you want to use this feature.
## Desktop & web
Using chat during a

Sending an in-meeting public chat
---------------------------------

Click **Chat**in the bottom menu bar.
*
If you are the host or moderator of the meeting, make sure *Everyone to chat* is selected next to **Allow**.
*
Type your message in the **Message to e** **veryone** field and send.
Sending an in-meeting private chat
----------------------------------
*
Click **Chat**in the bottom menu bar.
*
Click the **Privately**tab.
*
In the **Chat with** field, search for who you want to chat with.
*
Click the person's name.
*
Type your message in the **Message to (participant's name)** field and send.

Sending an in-meeting public chat

Tap **Chat**at the top part of the screen.
*
Tap **With everyone** at the top part of the screen.
*
Type your message in the **Message to everyone** field at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the right-pointing arrow to send your message.
Sending an in-meeting private chat
----------------------------------
There are two ways to send an in-meeting private chat while in a meeting:

By tapping chat at the top part of the screen
*
By tapping the participant's video tile
Sending an in-meeting private chat via the Chat menu

Tap **Chat**at the top part of the screen.
*
Tap **Privately**.
*
Tap the plus icon.
*
Search for the participant's name at the top or tap the participant's name in the list under **In Meeting.**

Type your message in the message field at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the right-pointing arrow to send your message.
