The default host is the person who scheduled the meeting, but the host can also [assign other participants as moderators or hosts](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Assigning-a-moderator-in-a-RingCentral-Video-meeting.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "").

## Desktop & web
Using host control in the desktop or web app

Hosts can access the following meeting controls:
* **Lock/Unlock** : Prevent or allow new users from entering the meeting. To learn more about configuring security actions, visit [Perform security actions during a

* The host can also take steps to protect their

* **Mute/Unmute all** : Mute or unmute all participants. If you would like to learn more about managing meeting attendees, visit [Managing

* **Reactions** : Enable or disable reactions. You can also view raised hand or nonverbal reaction notifications made by participants in the video meeting.
* *Raise hand*: Gets the attention of the host, moderator, or presenter.
* *Feedback*: Asks the host, moderator, or presenter to Slow down or Speed up and react Yes or No.
* *Status*: Shows a participant's status; if they will Be right back or are Multitasking.
* *Feelings*: Share feelings with an emoji. Choose to send a thumbs up, applause, surprised, laughing, or sad emoji. Note: Feelings disappear after 10 seconds.
* **Breakout**: Open breakout rooms.
* **More** : Click the three-dot icon to view the following options:
* *Allow screen-sharing*: Allow only hosts and moderators OR all participants to share their screen.
* *Allow transcript to be visible*: Allow only hosts and moderators OR all participants to see the transcript.
* *Allow to download and copy*: Allow only hosts and moderators OR all participants to download and copy the meeting recording.
* *Turn off all videos*: Turn off video for all participants.
* *Request to turn on all videos*: Request all participants to turn on video. Note: If a user agrees to this request, their camera will automatically turn on.
* **Record** : Click to start recording the video meeting.
* **Start transcription**: Click to start a live transcription of the meeting.
* **Leave**: Click to leave the meeting or end the meeting for everyone.
## Mobile
Using host controls on the mobile app
-------------------------------------
The host is the person who has scheduled the meeting and has control over all functions and features of the meeting. Another person can schedule a meeting on your behalf if you've [set them as a delegate](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Assigning-delegates-to-schedule-your-RingCentral-Video-meetings-in-the-RingCentral-desktop-and-web-app.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US ""), and you will still be the host of that meeting.
As the meeting host, you can:

* [Manage meeting participants](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Managing-RingCentral-Video-meeting-participants.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US ""), such as muting their audio, requesting them to turn their cameras on or off, and more.
* Take steps to [protect your
RingCentral
Video meetings](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Managing-your-Personal-meeting-settings-for-RingCentral-Video-meetings.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") both before and during a meeting.

Hosts can access the following in-meeting controls:
* **Participants** : Tap **Participants** via the bottom menu bar to [manage meeting attendees,](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Managing-RingCentral-Video-meeting-participants.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") and then tap the three-dot **More** icon at the top right to access host controls. Tap the three-dot **More** icon on the right of the attendee name to manage individual attendees.
 
* **Chat** : Hosts can [send a private chat](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Participating-in-Breakout-Rooms-during-RingCentral-Video-meetings.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") with anyone in the main meeting or a breakout room. Hosts can send a broadcast message to all rooms so that everyone in the meeting can see it.
* **Start transcription** : Tap to start a live transcription of the meeting.
* **End** : Tap *Leave the meeting* or *End meeting for everyone* . Tap **Cancel** to continue the meeting.
Note: When breakout rooms are created, hosts have the following controls:
* **Main meeting** : *Leave meeting* , *End meeting for everyone* , or*Cancel*.
* **Breakout room** : *Leave meeting* , *Return to the main meeting* , or*Cancel*.
