Using the QoS Analytics Meetings dashboard
==========================================

The Meetings page helps you respond quickly to any issues reported on video meetings by your organization's users and troubleshoot effectively by providing you access to granular data presented in an intuitive interface.

By default, you'll see a list of all video meetings for today across your company. You can filter the meetings for different date ranges, locations, endpoints, or ISPs. To access detailed data about each meeting, click the blue arrow next to the meeting record and expand the card.

QoS Meetings dashboard data filters
-----------------------------------

The filters you can leverage on top of the search function include:

* **Date range**: Filters data for the user-defined time range.
* **Location**: Filters based on the geoIP location rendered by MaxMind.
* **Endpoint** : Filters data based on the endpoint type connected to the <var class="keyword">
  <div style="display: inline;"></div></var> network.
* **Network type** : Filters meeting data based on the user network connection type to <var class="keyword">
  <div style="display: inline;"></div></var> SBC.
* **ISP**: Filters meetings by the ISPs used in the enterprise network.
* **Meeting type**: Filters meetings by end-to-end encryption enabled or disabled.
* **Site**: For premium and ultimate accounts, the site filter is available for users to filter meetings by the sites set up in Admin Portal.

Troubleshooting Meetings quality analytics
------------------------------------------

Troubleshooting video meetings is easy with the QoS Meetings page.

For example, an employee in your company experienced quality issues during his meeting and reported it to the IT admin. The IT admin can:

* Locate the problematic meeting and session
* Spot issues that occurred during the meeting
* Follow the wire from the user's device to network settings to identify the root cause

### Locate the problematic meeting

To locate the meeting, search for the meeting using the meeting ID, topic, or user that reported the problem. The user doesn't have to be a host. You can also narrow down the search results by providing a specific date range if you know, with other filters available.

The search will return one or more results that match the criteria. The meeting metadata should help you identify the correct meeting. Click to expand each card to see a list of participants. If your search criteria returns only one meeting, it will show as expanded by default.

### Spot issues that occurred during the meeting

Once you locate the meeting, click to expand the meeting card. The details will appear below.

On the left side is the user session table. This table gives a list of all meeting sessions within the meeting. Each connection established by the participants of the meeting will show up as a separate session with additional information such as:

* Name of the session owner
* Endpoint used for the session
* Quality of audio, video, and screen share stream
  * A green check mark indicates the stream quality was good.
  * An orange circle indicates the stream quality was moderate.
  * A red triangle indicates the stream quality was poor.

This table allows you to locate the session you need to troubleshoot and quickly spot the quality issues the user might have experienced. The user session table also allows you to search for a specific user to locate a session.

Click the correct session to open the session details in the details pane on the right side. By default, the first user session will be expanded. If there's a user name in the search box, the first session detail of the searched user will be expanded. The expanded view offers two views to check the behavior of all the underlying media signals during the session.

### Detect the root cause

In our research involving IT admins who work closely with video conferencing solutions, most of the quality issues can be traced to either the user's device - hardware or software configuration or network bandwidth issues. Typically, IT administrators follow a mental model for troubleshooting called - "Follow the wire."

In this model, you start with the user's device network settings and follow the virtual "wire" connection through which the communication flows.

Meetings Record makes troubleshooting easy by providing the necessary information for this mental model in four sections. The events and CPU and Memory Utilization graphs are beneath the timeline view, and Session Details are on the right panel.

QoS Meetings table view widget
------------------------------

Table view gives you a summary and deep dive into media signal trends throughout the meeting. There are two tabs in the table view: **Average** and **Timeline**.

The averages tab displays the average values of each media signal throughout the session.

The timeline tab displays the values of each media signal at a specific timeframe. Switch to the timeline tab by either clicking the tab or anywhere in the timeline graph beneath the table.

Each media signal value is measured against their expected normal range and highlighted as problematic (red) when they cross those values or moderate (orange) when close to the problematic range. When a participant session doesn't include a stream, they're greyed out.

QoS Meetings timeline view widget
---------------------------------

Timeline view plots the same media signals on a timeline graph. This view helps you monitor the media signal variations as they occur throughout the meeting.

At the top, you'll see the session's network quality indicator (NQI) trend. This metric corresponds to the NQI you see in your <var class="keyword">
<div style="display: inline;"></div></var> app during a session. You can identify a potential correlation between the drop in NQI and deterioration in media signal quality.

These are dynamic variations of values, updated every 10 seconds. These signals are also color-coded like the table view: red for problematic, orange for moderate, and green for normal.

By default the timeline view highlights only poor signals. However, you can highlight as many signals as you want to monitor by either clicking the signals in the graph or the signal values in the timeline table. You can also bulk highlight signals by selecting the options (**All Signals** , **Poor** , **Moderate** , and **Good**) at the top right corner of the timeline table.

When you click the timeline graph, it will highlight the timeframe with the highest peak, and the timeline table will show the signal values for that time period. Select a different timeframe by clicking a different timestamp on the graph and dragging the blue timestamp bar.

How are Poor, Moderate, and Good meeting scoring decided?
---------------------------------------------------------

During a video stream, the network bandwidth, user device setup, and several other technical parameters decide how the underlying media signals in a session behave and manifest to the participant. As media signals fluctuate and cause different packet losses, delays, and jitter, they can manifest as quality issues to the end user. To provide IT admins with an indication of a quality issue, we measure the media signals as they vary throughout the meeting and compare them against their expected normal range. Depending on how far they go beyond their expected normal range, they are categorized as moderate or poor.

The following tables describe how table and timeline view measure quality.

Note: The categorization of signals as poor or moderate is only an assessment of possible quality issues based on their expected normal range. A user may not perceive quality issues even when some signals are in poor range for parts of the meeting.

Audio signals sent to the server while a user is muted may indicate a very low bitrate, resulting in this value being categorized as poor. However, the participant may have experienced better audio quality.

QoS Meetings events graph
-------------------------

The events graph helps users understand if changes in the meeting could impact the quality of the experience. Users can hover over a blue bar and review the events for a timeframe.

Events include:

* Audio on/off
* Video on/off
* Screenshare on/off
* Network type, IP, and ISP change
* Microphone and speaker change

QoS Meetings CPU and memory utilization
---------------------------------------

CPU and memory utilization graph shows users if the increase in CPU or memory utilization affects the meeting quality. High CPU or memory utilization can harm frames per second (FPS) and lower the quality of video and screen share streams.

The maximum utilization is 100% in this graph, so the graph will show the average utilization (total utilization/number of cores) in the case of multi-core devices.

QoS Meetings session details
----------------------------

There are three detailed sections: user settings, network details, and user feedback.

**User settings**

* The user agent gives participants the device make, model, OS, and <var class="keyword">
  <div style="display: inline;"></div></var> client application name and version number used for the meeting session.
* Processor type and speed of the device used for the meeting session
* Codec name and version used for the session
* Microphone(s) used during the session
* Speaker(s) used during the session

**Network details**

* The participant was on ISPs during the session.
* Client IP(s) and location(s) can help you determine if the participant was at work or home
* Private IP(s) and router IP(s) can help you determine if the participant's issue is related to a specific access point.
* Network type(s) the participant was connected to during the session
* Channel(s) shows you if the participant is on a suboptimal WiFi channel

Combining these helps you identify if the participant's setup was optimal for the best meeting experience.

---------------------------------------------------

The meeting card also offers additional features to improve your troubleshooting experience.

* **Total view**: Open the meeting card in a full-page view in a separate tab. This lets you compare signals and timelines for multiple meetings.
* **Copy to clipboard**: Copy the raw data behind the table view to share with others on your team for troubleshooting.
