[INTERNAL] RingCentral Classic Unified Presence Overview

Unified Presence allows RingCentral Classic Users to see in one Presence indicator:


• RingCentral Classic messaging Presence (Available, Offline, Invisible)
• RingCentral Phone Busy Presence
• RingCentral Meetings Busy Presence
• Do Not Disturb (DND) Presence

This allows Users to know when a co-worker or a colleague is available for chat, busy on a call or in a meeting, offline and away from the app, or does not want to be disturbed.

Your Presence state will be set automatically, but can also be changed manually.
 

Functionality and Meaning of each Presence state

 

Available 

available - solid green


User is currently active in the app and available to communicate via RingCentral Classic messaging or by phone.

Offline/ Invisible

offline/invisible - solid gray

 

Offline: User is not connected to the app or has become inactive (15 mins or more).

Invisible: User has turned OFF their Presence status manually (same as Offline to other Users).
 

Do Not Disturb 

Do not disturb- Red with white line

 

User does not want to be disturbed.

All app notifications are blocked across mobile, desktop, and email. All RingCentral voice calls are sent direct to voicemail.
 

Busy

(On a call
or In a meeting)

busy - solid red

 

User is Busy on a RingCentral phone call or in a RingCentral Meeting.

NOTE: Busy Presence is ONLY available to RingCentral subscribers. For RingCentral Classic free Users, see Presence for Free Users.

 

Manual Presence Setting


Users can manually change the Presence state by clicking the Profile Picture and selecting the preferred Presence option:

Available


• The User is currently active, not on the phone nor in a meeting. This Presence state shows other users that they are now available to RingCentral Classic message or take calls.
• If the User manually changes their state to Available, it will override other Presence states, such as Busy. This allows the User to appear as online manually and show others they are available and free to communicate.

Invisible


• Invisible is a manual-only state. It is a Presence setting that allows the User to appear as Offline to others. This feature allows Users to “opt-out” of showing their Presence state. 
• User can turn this setting OFF by selecting Available or Do Not Disturb.


Do Not Disturb  


• DND is a manual-only state.
• DND will stop all desktop app, mobile push, and email notifications. The User can still launch the app and see their new messages. However, the notification for those messages will be muted automatically.
• For RingCentral subscribers: DND setting will automatically send all RingCentral calls direct to voicemail.
