Purchasing phone numbers in RingCentral Office

Before you can import phone numbers, you need to purchase phone numbers in your RingCentral Office account. Remember that you need to have enough admin rights to purchase phone numbers, and depending on your level of access, you might see different options in the left panel.

Adding phone numbers in RingCentral Office

To purchase new phone numbers, watch this video or follow these steps:
1. Log in as an administrator in your RingCentral Office account
2. In the Admin Portal, click on the Phone System tab via the top menu bar
3. Navigate to Phone Numbers > Contact Center via the left panel
4. In the Contact Center configuration page, click on Add Number at the top right to bring up the Add Contact Center Number window
5. Under the Select Numbers tab, fill out the configuration settings
6. Select the phone number(s) you want to purchase from a list that will generate after you fill out the settings
7. Click Add Numbers
8. Review the order summary generated after clicking Add Numbers, and then click Next
9. Under the Assign tab, select your contact center provider from the Contact Center Provider dropdown menu
10. Click Next
11. Review your order summary under the Confirm Order tab and check the acknowledgment checkbox
12. Click Next
13. Under the Order Confirmation tab, confirm your order by clicking Done
The number you purchased should be available for importation.

Contact Center Number configuration settings in RingCentral Office

In this section, you’ll find the different settings you need to fill out in order to purchase a phone number in your RingCentral Office account.
  • Location: The country where you want the phone number to be assigned to
  • Number Type: The type of number you want to purchase (local, toll-free, or vanity)
  • Cost Center: Assigns your number purchases to a department or an individual based on cost center codes, which will help companies manage and monitor the expenses for cost control and budget planning
  • State/Province: Depending on the location or country you selected, it may display State or Province
  • Area Code: The area code of your selected state or province

Converting your existing phone number in RingCentral Office

If you have previously purchased phone numbers but used them for other purposes, say, as an auto-receptionist, and you want to convert or reassign that existing number to your contact center, follow these steps: 
1. Log in as an administrator in your RingCentral Office account
2. Click on Phone System tab on top 
3. Navigate to Phone Numbers via the left panel and select the location of your phone number. Depending on where your existing number resides, it may be located under Company, Assigned, Unassigned, Transferred and Vanity, Common Phones, or Contact Center
4. Click on the phone number to go to its configuration page
5. Select the Contact Center radio button 
6. Select your contact center provider from the dropdown menu
7. Click Save
The number you converted or reassigned to Contact Center should be available for importation.
