Configuring phones and devices in the RingCentral
mobile app | RingCentral app 

If you’re an administrator, you can manage and configure the phones and devices assigned to all users in the company using your RingCentral mobile app. 

Note: Adding, reassigning, and removing phones can only be done by an administrator using the RingCentral admin portal.

Finding your Phones & Devices

1. Depending on which device you’re on:

a. For Android devices, tap your profile menu at the top left.

b. For iOS devices, tap your profile photo at the top left.

2. Tap Admin tools
3. Tap Phone system > Phones & Devices.
4. Under User Phones, you can find all your active phones assigned to the users in your company as well as your System Phones.

5. Under Devices, you can find all your Shared Line Devices, Paging Devices, and Common Area Phones.

6. Under Unassigned, you will find all your unassigned extension phones.

Configuring your User Phones

Admins can manage and configure the phones of users in the RingCentral mobile.

Note: Changing the phone and removing the line can only be done by an admin through the RingCentral admin portal.
1. Navigate to Admin tools via your profile menu.
2. Tap Phone System.
3. Tap Phones & Devices > User Phones.
4. Tap on the phone you want to manage.

  • Phone Nickname: The name of your phone that will appear on the Phones & Devices settings.
  • Phone Type: The type of device.
  • PC Name: The name of the PC that is used by the user to access the number.
  • Site: The location of the device.
  • Change Phone: Choose to replace the number with a new number or change it to an existing number.
  • Bandwidth Settings: Choose between High or Low sound quality.
    • High - Gives you better sound quality but calls can become choppy if there isn’t enough bandwidth.
    • Low - Gives you lower sound quality but ensures no interruptions during your conversation.
  • Assigned To: Choose which user will use the Phone Number assigned.
  • Emergency Dialing Address: The emergency address assigned to the Phone Number.
  • Status: Shows if the device is online or offline.
5. Tap Save on the upper right.

Configuring your Devices

Admins can manage all the devices assigned to your company. However, you can only view all existing paging devices in the RingCentral mobile app. To add and configure your paging devices, you need to login to your RingCentral online account.
1. Navigate to Admin tools via your profile menu.
2. Tap Phone System.
3. Tap Phones & Devices > Devices.
4. Tap on a device to modify the following settings:
  • Phone Nickname: The name of your phone that will appear on the Phones & Devices settings.
  • Phone Type: The type of device.
  • Serial Number: The serial number of the device.
  • Site: The location of the device.
  • Order Status: Displays whether you’ve received the device.
  • Bandwidth Settings: Choose between High or Low sound quality.
    • High - Gives you better sound quality but calls can become choppy when it’s not available.
    • Low - Gives you lower sound quality but ensures no interruptions during your conversation.
  • Use HD Voice if possible: Toggle on or off the use of high quality audio.
  • Status: Shows if the device is online or offline.
5. Tap Save on the upper right.

Assigning an unassigned phone and device

1. Navigate to Admin tools via your profile menu.
2. Tap Phone System.
3. Tap Phones & Devices > Unassigned.
4. Tap on the phone or device you want to assign.
5. Tap Assigned To to select which user will use the Phone Number assigned.
