Setting up Microsoft Global Address List integration
in the RingCentral mobile app | RingCentral app

The Microsoft Exchange Global Address List (GAL) is a list of all end users and their respective email addresses within an Exchange Server organization that uses Microsoft Outlook for email. A Global Address List (GAL) allows both administrators and users to find fellow employees' email addresses and send them messages.

With the right permissions, users have an option to connect their Microsoft GAL in the RingCentral mobile app to make it easier to schedule new meetings, or view and join upcoming meetings.

Before a user can connect their Microsoft Global Address List, admins must do the following:
  • Access the authentication flow where they should then see the permission request to provide consent to access data as specified in Microsoft’s terms of service and privacy statement on behalf of your organization.
  • Enable admin consent from Azure Active Directory admin center.
  • Grant permissions within Microsoft's Active Directory admin portal. This integration allows our users to sync their full company directory into our app, so that they can more easily contact coworkers who do not currently have RC accounts.
Note: Once done with the admin setup, this will not auto-enable the feature within the RingCentral app for your users. Each user will still need to individually connect their Microsoft GAL in their accounts.

Enabling admin consent from Azure Active Directory admin center

Once you have granted the permission request to provide consent to access data as specified in Microsoft’s terms of service and privacy statement on behalf of your organization, you will need to get RingCentral’s Calendar Service to appear within your Azure AD admin center. This method allows you to either provide admin consent to the app on behalf of your entire organization, or choose to enable it for only certain individuals and groups of people.
2. Click Enterprise applications > All applications > Calendar Service.
Go to Calendar service
3. Click Properties under Manage.
Click manage
4. Enable these two options by clicking Yes: Enabled for users to sign in? and User assignment required?.
5. Navigate to Permissions under Security
6. Click Grant admin consent for your organization. A window will open where you can accept the permissions request.
7. Click Accept

Enabling user consent to apps in the M365 admin center

This method allows users to provide their own consent to the necessary permissions while authenticating their Microsoft account with the RingCentral app.
1. Log in to your Microsoft 365 admin account.
2. Navigate to Settings on the left hand navigation bar.
3. Click Org settings > Services > User consent apps.
4. Click Let users provide consent when apps request access to your organization’s data on their behalf
To enable this method, access your Microsoft 365 admin center and locate the “Org settings” option within the Settings category of the left nav bar. The screen should default to the “Services” tab, and you should scroll until you see the list item titled “User consent to apps”.
