Setting message notification preferences in the
RingCentral app desktop and web | RingCentral app

There are several ways to configure your notification preferences. One method for setting your notification preferences is via the Notification and sounds tab in the Settings menu. In this page, you can configure general notification and sound preferences for the entire RingCentral app, for all messages, meetings, and phone calls.
 
However, there may be times where you would like to make changes to your notification preferences for a single conversation. For the purpose of this article, we’ll discuss how you can set your notification preferences for a single conversation.

Setting a conversation’s notification preferences

To set a conversation’s notification preferences, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Message via the left-hand navigation bar
2. In the conversation list, hover your mouse over the desired conversation and select the More kabob icon that appears at far right
3. Select Notification preferences from the dropdown menu to open the Conversation notification preferences modal window
4. Check the box next to Mute all notifications everywhere

Configure your notification preferences for desktop, mobile, and email (we’ll review each of these below)
5. Click Save to save your changes
Please note: You can also set a conversation’s notification preferences by selecting that conversation via the conversation list, clicking the More kabob icon at top right in the center pane, and clicking Notification preferences from the dropdown menu.

Now that we’ve reviewed how to configure a conversation’s notification preferences, let’s review each of the settings you’ll find while configuring these preferences.
  • Mute all notifications everywhere: Check this box to mute all conversation notifications for desktop, mobile, and email. Checking this box will disable all other settings in the Conversation notification preferences modal window
  • Enable desktop notifications: Check this box to receive notifications on your desktop
  • Enable desktop sound notifications: If you checked the previous box, click on the dropdown menu and select a notification sound you’d like your computer to play when you receive a message from this conversation
  • Enable mobile notifications: Click on the dropdown menu and select when you would like to receive a notification on your mobile device. Options include Every message, First new message only, or Off
  • Enable email notifications: Click on the dropdown menu and select when you like to receive an email about a new message from this conversation. Options include Every 15 minutes, Every hour, or Off
