Activating phone features in the RingCentral app

If a RingCentral app administrator enables phone features on your company account, you’ll need to activate the phone features in the app in order to take and make calls and texts and receive voicemails. 
 
If you’re an existing RingCentral app user when phone features are enabled for your account, you will first need to restart the app, or logout and log back in. 
 
The second step, which applies to both existing and new app users, requires that you update and/or make changes to your emergency address. We’ll review how you can update your emergency address below. 
 
Please note that if you don’t provide an emergency address, you will be limited to making calls only to extensions in your organization.

Updating your emergency address

To update your emergency address, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Settings at the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar.
2. Select the Phone tab from the left pane.
3. Click the Edit button at far right of the Emergency address setting.
4. Make any necessary changes to the emergency address fields.
5. Select the Confirm button to finish making your changes.
Please note that only users with DigitalLines can make outgoing calls to external numbers and will have the option to change their emergency address in the Settings menu. To learn more, see Phone Numbers - RingCentral DigitalLine Overview.
