End-to-end encryption for RingCentral Video
| RingCentral app

End-to-end encryption is a solution that protects your video conferencing content by making them inaccessible to non-recipients. End-to-end encryption is capable of:
  • ensuring only your participants can access meeting contents,
  • managing the confidentiality of audio, video, and chat during the meeting, and
  • protecting your meeting contents (even from service providers).
Even if our RingCentral cloud is fully compromised, the attacker still won’t be able to access your data.

Overview

Enabling end-to-end encryption for meetings requires all meeting participants to join using either the RingCentral web client or the RingCentral app desktop or mobile.

Enabling this setting disables the following features:
  • H.323 / SIP / PSTN
  • Saving chat and notes
  • Cloud recording
  • Live transcript
  • Closed captions
Anyone who has RingCentral login credentials will be able to join E2EE meetings.  However, only users who belong to paid accounts can initiate E2EE meetings. This includes both free and paid users in those accounts. Scheduling and starting ad-hoc E2EE meetings are not available for free accounts.

Note: Users will not be able to join by telephone, SIP/H.323 devices, as these endpoints do not support RingCentral SDK to perform end-to-end encryption.

Using end-to-end encryption

You can turn on end-to-end encryption for both scheduled and instant meetings to mitigate risks and protect your sensitive information from SaaS vendors or any third parties.

Enable end-to-end encryption for your RingCentral Video meetings by logging into your RingCentral online account, then go to Settings > Meetings (for users) or Meetings > Meetings Settings (for admin).
