Turning on on-demand or automatic call recording
================================================

You can set up call recording in the <var class="keyword">
<div style="display: inline;">
RingCentral
</div></var> Admin Portal. There are two options:

* When on-demand call recording is turned on, users can manually record phone calls at any time with the press of a button. A notification will play to callers when the recording starts and when it stops.
* When automatic call recording (ACR) is turned on, recording will start at the beginning of each call and stop when the call ends. This feature is turned off by default.

**Note**  
The system allows for both types of recordings to be enabled on your account, but only one type can be active during a call.

* Turning on both on-demand and automatic recording gives you flexibility, but they won't run at the same time.
* If automatic recording is turned on for a call, it takes priority.
* On-demand recording won't be available if the call is already being recorded automatically.
