Favorites are contacts in your Contact Directory that you will call most often. When adding contacts as a favorite from the Contact Directory, you can designate an index number that can be used for Speed Dialing. On all VVX phones, excluding the VVX 1500, a star is displayed for contacts saved as favorites.

Requirements
------------

Contacts must be added to the phone's Contact Directory. After setting up your phone's Contact Directory, you may proceed with the steps below.

Polycom VVX Series phones - Adding Favorite Contacts
----------------------------------------------------

* Navigate to **Directories \> Contact Directory**.
* Select a contact from your Contact Directory, and then select **Add** or **Add to Favorites**.
* A notification is displayed asking if you want to automatically accept the next available index number or manually enter your own. Select **Yes** to automatically accept an index number or select **Edit** Index to enter a unique index number. For VVX 101 and VVX 201 phones, you can enter an index number up to 99. For all other VVX phones, you can enter an index number up to 9999.

Polycom SoundPoint IP 321 / 331 / 335 - Adding Favorite Contacts

When a new entry is added to the Contact Directory, it is automatically assigned the next available speed dial index and the new entry appears at the bottom of the Speed Dial list. You can access the Speed Dial list by navigating to **Menu \> Features \> Speed Dial** or by pressing the Up arrow key from the idle screen.

To add or edit a speed dial index for an existing contact:

* Press the **Dir** soft key.
* Use the **Up** and **Down** arrow keys to scroll through the list to find the contact.
* Press the **Select** key to select the entry.
* Press the **Edit** soft key.
* Press the **Down** arrow key repeatedly until the speed dial index displays.
* Press the **Select** key to select the speed dial index for edit.
* Do one of the following steps:
  * Enter the next available speed dial index.
  * Delete the existing speed dial index by using the **Backspace** soft key, and then enter a new speed dial index.

* Press the **Ok** soft key to accept changes.

Polycom SoundPoint IP 450 - Adding Favorite Contacts

When a new entry is added to the Contact Directory, it is automatically assigned the next available speed dial index and the next available line key. Speed Dial entries are consecutively placed next to assigned Line Keys on the phone.

To add or edit a speed dial index for an existing contact:

* Navigate to **Menu \> Features \> Contact Directory**.
* Scroll to highlight the contact. You can also use the **\*** key to page up and the **#** key to page down.
* Press the **Edit** soft key.
* Do one of the following steps:
  * Enter the next available speed dial index.
  * Delete the existing speed dial index by using the **\<\<** soft key, and then enter a new speed dial index. Valid speed dial index values are from 1 to 9999. If you enter an index that is invalid or already in use, you will get an error message.

* Press the **Save** soft key to accept changes.

When a new entry is added to the Contact Directory, it is automatically assigned the next available speed dial index and the next available line key. Speed Dial entries are consecutively placed next to assigned Line Keys on the phone.

To add or edit a speed dial index for an existing contact:

* Navigate to **Directories \> Contact Directory**.
* Scroll to highlight the contact. You can also use the **\*** key to page up and the **#** key to page down.
* Press the **Edit** soft key.
* Do one of the following steps:
  * Enter the next available speed dial index.
  * Delete the existing speed dial index by using the **X** key, and then enter a new speed dial index. A valid speed dial index is any unused number from 1 to 9999.

* Press the **Save** soft key to accept changes.
* Press **Directories** to return to the idle screen.
