Difference between Call Switch and Call Flip
============================================

This article describes the differences between Call Switch and Call Flip features and includes use case scenarios for each feature.

[Call Switch](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Switching-a-call-or-meeting-between-desktop-and-mobile-in-the-RingCentral-app.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") allows you to open another RingCentral device or app while you are on an active call, then "pull" the call away from the original device or app and continue it on the other one you just opened.

[Call Flip](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Flipping-a-call-in-the-RingCentral-app.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "") lets you transfer or "push" a live call between your devices, including home phones, desk phones, and smartphones, using an assigned single digit without any interruption to the call. You need to assign a Flip Number to each device you will use before you can use this feature.

Call Switch Use Case Scenario
-----------------------------

A User is on the deskphone with a customer but has to head to a meeting. The User opens the RingCentral app and initiates a Call Switch to leave the desk and continue the conversation with the customer using the app. Any screen of an active call in the RingCentral app prompts a two-click process that enables instant call handover.

Call Flip Use Case Scenario
---------------------------

On her way out of the office, a User initiates a call flip from their desk phone, waits to receive the incoming call on her mobile phone, and picks up the mobile call to continue her conversation.
