Setting up the ATA fax number
=============================

You'll need to set the ATA fax machine number to receive faxes. This prevents non-fax numbers from receiving faxes, and avoids faxes being delivered to voice-only lines.

This is the fourth step in the process to set up an ATA to send and receive faxes. This can also be accomplished by [updating the phone number type](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/modifying-phone-number-type-receive-voice-fax.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US "").

* Sign in to the [Admin Portal](https://service.ringcentral.com/ "").
* Click the **Phone System**tab.
* Click **Phones \& Devices** , then **User Phones**.
* Click the Fax Machine (ATA) in the list.

* Click **View** next to the phone number.

* Click **Yes** in the popup window.
* Click the **Number Type** dropdown and select **Voice only**.
* Click **Save** .
