Setting up Service Status notifications in the Admin Portal
===========================================================

Admins can set up notifications for a single user or a distribution group to receive service-impacting alerts by email or text. Notifications provide updates during service disruptions and a final message once resolved.

**Note**  
Users must have a valid email address and mobile phone number in their [User details](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Editing-user-information-in-the-RingCentral-app-and-Admin-Portal.html?brand=RingCentral&product=RingEX&language=en_US&pills-nav=admin_portal "") to receive notifications. [Admin access or a user role with permission](https://support.ringcentral.com/article-v2/Permissions-List-and-Details.html?brand=RC_US&product=RingEX&language=en_US#Permissions-List-and-Details "") to manage users is required.

Service Status notifications are available for the following systems and features:

* Calling
* Desk Phone
* Soft Phone
* Meetings
* Video
* Contact Center
* Messaging
* SMS
* Fax
* Service Portal (Admin Portal)
* Connect Platform
* Developer Sandbox
* Maintenance (email only)
* AI Receptionist (AIR)

Setting up service status notifications for individual users
------------------------------------------------------------

To have notifications sent to a user:

* Sign in to the [Admin Portal](https://service.ringcentral.com/ "").
* Click the **Users** tab.
* In the **Users with Extensions** list, select the user you want to receive notifications.
* Click the **Notifications** tab.
* Click **Service Status Notifications** .

* Check the boxes to select if the notifications for each service should be sent **By Email** , **By SMS**, or both.
* Click **Save** .

Sending notifications to a distribution list
--------------------------------------------

To have notifications sent to a group of users:

* Sign in to the [Admin Portal](https://service.ringcentral.com/ "").
* Click the **Users** tab.
* In the left panel, click **Unassigned Extensions**.
* If you have an **Ext. with no device assigned** available for use, select it and skip to step 10.

* If you don't have an existing extension to use, click**Add Unassigned Ext** .

* Select a **Location** , then click **Next**.
* Click the **Add Users without Devices** tab.

* Select the appropriate options from the dropdowns, then click **Add** and **Next** to confirm.
* In the Unassigned Extensions list, click the new extension labeled **Ext. with no device assigned**.
* Under Setup Option, select **Activate by assigning credentials** .

* Set the **Password** , **PIN** , and **Security Question**.
* Enter a first name, last name, and the **Email Address**of the distribution group.
* If using SMS notifications, add a **Mobile Phone number**.
* Click **Save \& Enable**.
* In the left panel, click **Users with Extensions** and select the user you just created.
* Click the **Notifications** tab.
* Click **Service Status Notifications**.
* Check the boxes to select if the notifications for each service should be sent **By Email** , **By SMS**, or both.
* Click **Save**
