Using RingCentral Virtual backgrounds

You can personalize your meetings and remove background distractions by displaying a photo, GIF, or video as your background during a meeting using RingCentral Virtual backgrounds. You can upload your own files or choose from the available background options.

Note: Before using a virtual background, make sure your device meets the system requirements.

Using a virtual background with RingCentral Video in the desktop app

  1. Go to Settings in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Video in the left panel.
  3. Click Edit to the right of Video meeting settings.

Note: If you want to select or change your virtual background during a meeting, click More in the bottom menu bar of the meeting.
  1. Select Background & effects.
  2. Select the background you’d like to use or click the plus icon to upload your own. You can use MOV or MP4 video files smaller than 100 MB.
Note: The virtual background you select will be used for future meetings until you   
change it.

Virtual background settings:

  • Mirror my video: See yourself like you do in the mirror. Other people will always see you unmirrored. Text and images shown in your video will look correct to others, even if they look backwards to you. 
  • Improve my appearance with the virtual background: Your video will automatically adjust its brightness to your selected background and make you appear more realistically inside the virtual background scene. This setting won’t be available if you’re using a green or blue screen.
  • I have a green or blue screen: Using a green screen will enhance your virtual background. For the best experience, have a solid background behind you.
Note: Before using a virtual background, make sure your device meets the system requirements.

Using a virtual background with RingCentral Video in the mobile app

  1. Tap your profile picture at the top left of the RingCentral mobile app.
  2. Tap Video > Virtual background.
Note: If you want to select or change your virtual background during a meeting, tap More at the bottom right, then tap Virtual background.
  1. Tap the photo or video you’d like to use or tap the plus icon to add one from your phone’s library. 
    • If you want to use a photo or video from your phone’s library, select it, then tap Done at the bottom of your screen (iOS) or the plus icon at the bottom right (Android). You can use MOV or MP4 video files smaller than 100 MB.
  2. If you’re in a meeting, tap the arrow at the top left to go back to the meeting screen.
