Comparison between RingCentral Outlook integrations

RingCentral offers two different integrations with Microsoft Outlook for scheduling video meetings.
  • The RingCentral Scheduler Outlook add-in is an application for desktop and web on both Windows and macOS.
  • The RingCentral for Microsoft plug-in can be installed on your computer separately. It integrates into your desktop Outlook client only on Windows.
Note: In 2020, Microsoft announced that they would block Outlook for Mac plug-ins. Per a more recent update, Microsoft will block only certain plug-ins in newer macOS releases.
 
RingCentral will continue to offer both the Outlook Scheduler add-in and the Outlook plug-in until further notice.

RingCentral Scheduler outlook plugin
  • Developed and actively maintained by RingCentral.
  • Supports video, voice, and SMS features.
  • Supports RingCentral Meetings and RingCentral Video.
  • Works only on Windows.

RingCentral Scheduler for Outlook add-in

RingCentral Scheduler outlook addin
  • Replaces and combines the RingCentral Meetings and RingCentral Video add-ins.
  • Developed and actively maintained by RingCentral.
  • Supports RingCentral Meetings and RingCentral Video.
 
Important notes for existing RingCentral customers:
  • If you’ve installed the RingCentral Meetings add-in and/or the RingCentral Video add-in from Microsoft App Source, they should be automatically replaced by the RingCentral Scheduler add-in. 
  • If you’ve installed the RingCentral Meetings and RingCentral Video add-ins from a source file, you must manually delete them, then replace them with the RingCentral Scheduler Outlook add-in. Learn how to replace older add-ins with the new add-in
