Managing your messages in the RingCentral app desktop and web

RingCentral app users can edit, delete, and/or forward messages from direct messages, teams, and groups.

Editing a message

  1. Go to Message in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select a conversation from the list.
  3. Hover over the message, then click Edit post (pencil).
  4. When you’re finished, press Enter/Return or click the blue arrow next to the message.
(Edited) notification will appear next to the message. Hovering over the message will display the timestamp for the edit. You can edit your message multiple times, but you’ll only see the timestamp for the latest edit.

Deleting a message

  1. Go to Message in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select a conversation from the list.
  3. Click the three-dot More icon next to the message.
  4. Click the Delete post (trash can) icon.
  5. Click Delete in the popup.
Note: If you delete a message that contains an attachment but no text, you can skip Step 2.

Forwarding a message

You can share messages and/or attachments from one conversation with other users. The forwarded post contains the username, team name (if any), and quote of the original message, along with any attachments. If forwarded from a group conversation, the group name will display as a “direct conversation.”
  1. Go to Message in the left navigation bar.
  2. Select a conversation from the list.
  3. Hover over the message, then click the Forward (right arrow icon).
  4. To search for your intended recipient, enter a name, team name, or email address in the Type person or team name box.
