Intro to Contacts in the RingCentral app

Last updated on August 29, 2022
This article provides an introduction to Contacts in the RingCentral mobile app and the RingCentral app on your desktop or web browser.

You can view your company’s users and any teams you’ve created in Contacts. The users you can view include coworkers, guest users, and admins

Note: If a guest user isn't included in a direct message, group, or team conversation with another user, then the guest user won’t see that person listed as a contact.

Using Contacts in the RingCentral app on your desktop or web browser

Click the Contacts icon in the left navigation bar to access the following items.

Contacts

Under Contacts in the left panel, you’ll see your contacts separated by type:
  • All contacts: A full list of your RingCentral account contacts. You can also add quick contacts to message or start a phone or video call with the people you communicate with most.
  • Company: Contacts whose email addresses are on your company’s private domain.
  • Guests: Contacts who don’t work at your company but were invited to collaborate in a team conversation.
  • Personal: Your personal contacts, including contacts you’ve added in the RingCentral app on your desktop or web browser and contacts you’ve connected from your Microsoft and Google accounts
  • Other: A list of group extensions, including call queues, announcement-only extensions, message-only extensions, and shared lines.
  • Quick contacts: Add quick contacts to message or start a phone or video call with the people you communicate with most.

Teams

Under Teams in the left panel, you’ll see your teams separated by type:
  • All teams: All public teams and any private team you’re a member of.
  • My teams: Teams you’ve created or joined.
  • Public teams: Teams you can join without an invite.
  • Archived teams: Teams you were part of that an admin has archived. Admins can reactivate archived teams by clicking Restore at the far right of the team.
In addition to the name of each team, you can see:
  • An Admin badge at the far right of the team if you’re an admin.
  • How many members and guests are in a team.
  • A lock icon to the right of the team name if it’s a private team.
Note: You can view private teams only if someone has invited you or if you’ve joined as a Super Admin. To join a public team, hover over the team name and click Join.

Team administration

Super Admins can view all public and private company teams in this section. You’ll see this section only if you’re a Super Admin.
