Selecting the view in RingCentral Rooms

In RingCentral Rooms, you can select the view from the controller while in a meeting or while screen sharing within a meeting. Options include gallery, active speaker, and filmstrip mode.

Selecting the view in RingCentral Rooms during a meeting

You can change the view during a Rooms meeting from the controller. If you need to change the view while screen sharing, refer to Selecting the view in RingCentral Rooms while screens sharing.

  1. On the controller, tap
    Change view
    .

    Tap Change view

  2. In the select view screen, choose your preferred view:
    • Gallery
: This displays the participants in a grid when more than one video participant has joined. The person actively speaking is highlighted in blue. This is the default view if another view hasn’t been selected.
    • Active speaker
: This fills the screen with the participant actively speaking. A view of the room is shown in a thumbnail.
      • To adjust the thumbnail position, tap the corner where you want to display the thumbnail.
      • To adjust the thumbnail size, hover over the thumbnail and tap the Enlarge/Reduce buttons.

Note: To hide the thumbnail, tap
Change view > Active speaker > Disable thumbnail
      .

    • Filmstrip
: This displays the active speaker in the center and remote participants horizontally across the bottom.

    Select View Screen

To select a different view while screen sharing, tap
Change view
on the controller. In addition to the filmstrip and active speaker discussed above, you can also select
Content only
. This provides the same view as selecting Active speaker and hiding the speaker thumbnail.

When screen sharing using two TV displays:

  • The default on the first display is active speaker, and it can't be changed.
  • The default on the second display is gallery, but it can be changed to active speaker.
  • Filmstrip view isn’t available in a dual-display setup.

If active speaker is selected, the most recent speaker fills the screen, and there is no thumbnail. Meeting hosts can swap the content on the TV displays by tapping
Swap
.

Selecting the view in RingCentral Rooms when screen sharing

In most cases, when a participant begins sharing the screen, the selected view remains, but it is updated to accommodate the shared content:

  • If using Filmstrip
: The shared content replaces the active speaker at the center of the screen. The active speaker joins the other participants in the horizontal filmstrip across the bottom and is highlighted in blue.
  • If using Active speaker
: The shared content fills the screen, and the thumbnail view of the room is replaced by the most recent
    remote
active speaker. This helps Rooms participants focus on the content and remote participants during screen sharing instead of seeing the room in a thumbnail.
    • To adjust the thumbnail position, tap the corner where you want to display the thumbnail.
    • To adjust the thumbnail size, tap the Enlarge or Reduce buttons on the thumbnail.

Note: To hide the thumbnail, tap
Change view > Active speaker > Disable thumbnail
    .

  • If using Gallery
: Gallery view isn’t available when screen sharing on a single TV display. If a specific view wasn’t selected before screen sharing, the default gallery view changes to filmstrip once sharing begins.

To select a different view while screen sharing, tap
Change view
on the controller. In addition to the filmstrip and active speaker discussed above, you can also select
Content only
. This provides the same view as selecting Active speaker and hiding the speaker thumbnail.

When screen sharing using two TV displays:

  • The default on the first display is content only, and it can't be changed.
  • The default on the second display is gallery, but it can be changed to active speaker or content only.
  • Filmstrip view isn’t available in a dual-display setup.

If active speaker is selected, the most recent speaker fills the screen, and there is no thumbnail. Meeting hosts can swap the content on the TV displays by tapping
Swap
.
