Intro to Phone in the RingCentral app

This article provides an overview of Phone in the RingCentral app on your desktop or web browser and the RingCentral mobile app.
 
Phone is the main location for placing calls, viewing and managing your call history, and accessing your voicemails and call recordings.

Using Phone in the RingCentral app on your desktop or web browser

Click the Phone icon in the left navigation bar to access:

Call history

Call history contains a full log of your call activities:
  • All calls: View a list of all calls, including any missed calls and calls you’ve made on behalf of someone else.
  • Missed calls: View a list of your missed calls.
  • Call recordings: Access and listen to your call recordings.

Voicemail

Access and manage all your saved voicemails. Click Show transcript next to a voicemail to see a transcript of the recording.

HUD

Heads-up display (HUD) provides advanced phone functionality and keeps your frequently used extensions at your fingertips. HUD contains the following navigation tabs:

Conference

View your conference room, start a conference call, and invite participants.

Make a call

Clicking Make a call opens the dialpad. You can easily make a call, view recent calls, or change your caller ID.

Phone settings

You can configure your phone settings by going to Settings > Phone in the left navigation bar. You can update your Incoming calls, Outgoing calls, and General settings. 

Using Phone in the RingCentral mobile app

Tap the Phone icon in the bottom menu. You’ll see tabs for your dialpad, recent calls, and voicemails. If you’re using an Android, you’ll also see a tab for your recordings here.

Dialpad

From the dialpad, you can make a call or change your outbound caller ID.

Recents

View a log of your call activities. Use the Search recent calls field to search for specific calls using the caller’s name, phone number, or extension. Use the filter icon to the right to view the following:
  • All: Select to view a list of all your calls, including missed calls and audio conference calls.
  • Missed: Select to view a list of your missed calls.

Voicemail

Access and manage your voicemails. Use the Search voicemails field to search for voicemail messages using the caller’s name, phone number, or extension. You can also use the filter icon to the right to view the following:
  • All: Select to access and play back your voicemails. 
  • Unread: Select to view a list of only your unplayed voicemails.

Recordings (Android only)

Access and manage your recordings. Use the Search recordings field to search for recordings using the caller’s name, phone number, or extension. 

Conference

The Conference icon is in the upper right corner above the tabs. Tap it to view your conference room, start a conference call, and invite participants.

Phone settings

Configure your phone settings by tapping your profile picture in the top left, then tap Phone. You can update your Incoming calls, Outgoing calls, and General settings
