Making and answering calls in the RingCentral app

Before you make or answer calls in the desktop, web, or mobile apps, make sure you’ve set your preferred microphone and speakers for calls.

This article covers individual calls, but you can also manage multiple calls at the same time.

You can make calls using the:

Making a call using the Phone tab

  1. Click
    Phone
    in the navigation bar.
  2. Click the
    Keypad
    tab.
  3. Use the default Caller ID or select a new number from the
    My caller ID
    dropdown, if available.
  4. Place your call in one of two ways:
    • Begin typing a name, phone number, or extension to bring up a list of contacts. Find your contact on the list, then click the name to make the call.
    • Click the number keys to enter a phone number, then click the
      Call
      button.

You can also click the other tabs in the Phone section to make calls:

  • : Dial using your call history
  • : Call back numbers that left you a voicemail
  • : Call back people that have a call recording
  • : Call contacts listed in your HUD

Making a call using the keypad icon

Using the popout keypad lets you move around the app and still have easy access to make phone calls.

  1. Click the keypad icon at the top right.
  2. Use the default Caller ID or select a new number from the
    My caller ID
    dropdown, if available.

  3. Place your call in one of three ways:
    • Begin typing a name, phone number, or extension to bring up a list of contacts. Find your contact on the list, then click the name to make the call.
    • Click the number keys to enter a phone number, then click the
      Call
      button.
    • Click the
      Recent calls
      clock icon to view your call history, then click the name of the contact you’d like to call.

Answering calls


When you’re receiving an incoming call, you have several options:

  • Answer
    : Click to answer the incoming call.
  • To Voicemail
    : Click to send the caller directly to your voicemail. To use this option, you’ll need to set up your voicemail greeting.
  • Ignore
    : Click to silence the call. The call will be sent to the destination specified in your call handling settings.
  • More
    : Click to select:
    • Forward
      : Forward the incoming call. You can choose to forward the call to one of your saved devices or phone numbers, or you can select
      Custom
      to forward the call to a different number or user.
    • Reply
      : Respond to the caller with an automated voice message. Double-click one of the preset messages, or enter a custom message in the text field at the bottom, then click
      Enter
      .
