Engage Voice | Assigning chat widgets to digital queues

Once you have configured a chat widget you will assign it to a digital queue. Assigning a chat widget to a digital queue associates the widget with the queue and generates several artifacts, including a widget ID listed in the Widget Assignment configuration page, and the ability to generate embeddable code for your site.

Assigning a chat widget to a digital queue

Follow these steps to assign a chat widget to a digital queue: 
1. Navigate to Routing > Digital queues & skills via the left-hand navigation bar
2. Select a digital queue from the groups page
3. Select the Widget Assignment configuration page
4. Click Add Assignment to launch the Edit Widget Assignment modal window
5. Select the title of your widget from the Widget dropdown listing the available widgets
6. Click Save to save the assignment

Let’s review the settings and controls available on the Widget assignment configuration page:
  • Widget ID: An identifier assigned to a widget within the system
  • Widget Name: The name you specified for the widget
  • Generate Code: Generates an embeddable code snippet from the widget’s configuration
  • Edit Assignment: Edits the assignment of the widget in the digital queue
  • Remove Assignment: Removes the assignment of the widget from the digital queue
  • Embeddable Code Snippet: Displays embeddable code to copy and paste into your web page HTML

Integrating a chat widget into your website

The steps for integrating a chat widget into your website may vary depending on your website configuration. 
 
The following is an example of one such configuration where your webpage is maintained in an HTML file.
1. Navigate to Routing > Digital queues & skills via the left-hand navigation bar
2. Select a digital queue from the groups page
3. Select the Widget Assignment configuration page
4. Click the Generate Code gear icon to the right of an assigned widget
5. Select and copy the text in the Embeddable Code Snippet box
6. In your web design environment, open your webpage HTML file
7. Insert the embeddable code from the <script> through </script> tags into the body of your web page
8. Save your changes in your HTML file
9. Open your HTML file with a browser
