When setting up RingCentral Rooms on the iPad (controller), you need to ensure the settings are correctly configured to set it for kiosk mode. This will allow RingCentral Rooms to start and prevent users from using other applications on the iPad.

Note: There is a known issue with iOS 12 wherein the iPad goes to sleep when in Guided Access mode. In order to prevent this, please update the device to iOS 12.1.11 or later, then enable the Mirror Display Auto-Lock setting as shown in Step 9 under Set up Guided Access.

Disabling auto-lock

  1. Open Settings on the iPad.
  2. Scroll to and tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Tap the Auto-Lock menu options.
  4. Select Never.

Setting up guided access

  1. Open Settings on the iPad.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Tap Accessibility.
  4. Scroll to and tap Guided Access under the Learning section.
  5. Toggle Guided Access to on (green).
  6. Tap Passcode Settings.
  7. Tap Set Guided Access passcode.
  8. Enter the 6 digit passcode you want to edit to leave Guided Access mode twice.
  9. For devices running OS 12.1.11 or later, toggle Mirror Display Auto-Lock to on (green).

Starting guided access mode

  1. Open the RingCentral Rooms app on the iPad.
  2. Triple-tap the Home button on the device.
  3. Select the Options button at the lower left to enable or disable buttons on the device while in Guided Access.
  4. Tap Start at the top right. Your iPad is now secured, so RingCentral Rooms is the only available application.

Exiting guided access mode

  1. Triple-tap the Home button on the device.
  2. Enter the Guided Access passcode configured in the iOS settings.
