What is RingCentral Room Connector?

RingCentral Room Connector is a backend service that allows third-party SIP-based room meeting hardware (e.g., hardware made by Cisco, Poly, Lifesize, etc.) to connect to a RingCentral Video meeting.

For which products and editions is RingCentral Room Connector for Video available?

It is an add-on license with RingEX (Standard, Premium, Ultimate) or RingCentral Video Pro+ plans.

What is the difference between RingCentral Rooms and RingCentral Room Connector?

RingCentral Rooms is the add-on license that allows customers to have video conferencing in meeting rooms based on our Video product and is available with the purchase of RingEX (Standard, Premium, Ultimate) or RingCentral Video Pro+ plans. 
 
RingCentral Room Connector is a separate add-on that allows customers to connect existing SIP endpoint devices to Video meetings.

How will the RingCentral Room Connector for Video be sold?

RingCentral Room Connector is sold as an add-on license, as a separate offering from RingCentral Rooms. You can purchase it directly through your RingCentral online account or contact your account manager to purchase the additional licenses.

Do RingCentral Rooms require a RingCentral Room Connector license?

No, RingCentral Rooms and RingCentral Room Connector licenses serve different purposes. 
 
RingCentral Rooms is the license that allows you to set up the Video-based meeting room, which can then join and host Video meetings.  
 
RingCentral Room Connector is a separate license that extends the life of existing third-party SIP-based room meeting hardware by allowing them to join Video meetings.

Will this be offered as a concurrent license or a per room dedicated license?

Concurrent. 

Do we support the H.323 standard?

No, we do not; however, most of the third-party hardware can join by SIP.

Can we make and receive voice calls on the SIP room system?

No, we do not support registering third-party video SIP devices. However, we do offer this feature via RingCentral Rooms with the Rooms as a softphone feature, which allows customers to use their room system setup to make and receive voice calls.

I have a number of room systems third-party meeting software platforms today (ex: Teams, Zoom, 8x8). Can I use RingCentral Room Connector to connect to these third-party services?

No, this is not supported today.

What happens if I have a mixture of room systems (ex: RingCentral, Teams, Zoom)? How do these solutions work together?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to launch RingCentral Video meetings from Teams or Zoom Rooms. Contact your representatives at those respective companies, and your RingCentral representative, to learn more about RingCentral Room Connector compatibility.

Where can I find more information about tested third-party SIP-based room meeting hardware?

What’s supported in Analytics for Room Connector?

Room Connector is labeled as SIP Video Device in the Analytics portal. It is included in both QoS (Quality of Service) and Alerts. You can filter the reports to Room Connector by filtering Endpoints as SIP video device.
