Engage Voice | Adding a saved insight

As mentioned in Dashboards overview, your dashboards are where you can view your insight widgets and KPI widgets. To access your dashboards, navigate to Dashboards via Historical Reporting. When you do this, you will arrive at the Dashboards page where you will see a grey sidebar just to the right of the left-hand navigation bar.

To create a new dashboard, click on Add dashboard at the bottom of the grey sidebar. This will take you to the blank canvas where you can drag and drop created insights or new KPIs.

Insights are created in Analytical Designer, but KPIs are created in the dashboard canvas. If you would like to learn more about creating an insight, you can read about it in Creating an Insight.

There’s a search bar just under Saved Insights where you can search for saved insights. Just under the search bar are two tabs where you can view separate insights. Under the created by me tab are insights you created, while under the all tab are all the insights within your organization. Once you locate the insights you want to add, you can drag and drop it onto the dashboard.

Under the dashboard name in the dashboard canvas is where you can assign filters. By default, the Date range filter is automatically configured and cannot be removed. You can, however, add more filters by dragging Attribute Filter from the left side to the white bar where the Date range filter is located. Doing this will reveal a list of attribute filters you can choose from. Attributes are non-measurable descriptors used to break down metrics and measures and represent qualitative data. They are used to group, slice, filter, and reorder data.

Adding saved insights

Creating a dashboard or adding an insight to a dashboard is fast and easy. However, keep in mind that you need to configure your insights before you start using them to analyze data.

When you are ready to add a saved insight to a new dashboard, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Analytics app icon upon log in
2. Navigate to Historical Reporting > Dashboards
3. Click on Add dashboard at the bottom of the grey sidebar
4. Under Saved insights use the search bar, the created by me tab, or the all tab to select a saved report
5. Drag the insight you want to the canvas on the right. Once you drop the insight, it will generate the data visualizations of that particular insight
6. A popup filter menu will appear by the widget. Under Filter by, check the Date box if you want to filter by date started or ended. If not, uncheck the box
7. Repeat steps 3-5 if you want to add additional insight widgets to your dashboard
8. At the top of the canvas is the title of the dashboard. Click to rename
9. Inside the canvas just below the Date range filter is the widget section title. Click to rename
10. Below the widget section title is its description. Click to add a description
11. Click the Save & Publish button on the top right
You can also add attribute filters. Drag and drop the Attribute Filter from the left side to the white bar where the Date range filter is located. This will reveal a dropdown menu that allows you to choose and configure specific attribute filters.

After saving and publishing a dashboard, you can edit it later if you want to add more widgets or revise the current widget’s configuration. If you want to delete an existing insight widget, you can simply click on the widget while in edit mode and then click on the trash can icon that appears in the insight’s upper right corner.

Now that you’ve added at least one insight to your dashboard, you may want to start configuring them.

Using Attribute Filters

As mentioned in About Analytical Designer, insights have an option to include filters. Attribute filters are different from insight filters as they are applied to the whole dashboard and not just to specific insight or KPIs. Attribute filters are also separate from the popup filter menu that appears when you drag an insight widget to the canvas. To see a list of attribute filters, head on to Understanding measures and attributes.
