What has RingCentral previously communicated to customers regarding these delistings?
RingCentral announced the sunsetting of the RingCentral Phone Mobile App to customers beginning in July 2019. RingCentral also began communicating to customers regarding the transition from RingCentral Meetings App to RingCentral App in June 2021.
Communication was sent to accounts on a batch-by-batch basis through 2021 via email to administrators and in-app notification to all users. Since then, RingCentral accounts and their users have been migrated in batches and can no longer use RingCentral Meetings standalone apps.
The last batch will be migrated from RingCentral Phone Mobile App on November 15, 2021.
You can find more information on our community site here: Transitioning to the RingCentral App.
Why is RingCentral delisting the Meetings App and Meetings Plugin?
RingCentral delivers a comprehensive Message, Video, and Phone experience through the unified RingCentral App. This application is available on both desktop and mobile devices and supports RingCentral Meetings as the video meeting provider in some instances.
The RingCentral Scheduler offers a single unified add-in for users to schedule either RingCentral Video or RingCentral Meetings video conferences from right within their Outlook calendar.
To fully enjoy our trusted unified communications experience, you must transition to the new unified RingCentral App. Only the new unified RingCentral App will receive the latest feature and security updates.
To experience seamless video meeting integration in their Microsoft Outlook experience, download and install the RingCentral Scheduler.
Moreover, RingCentral is proud to offer RingCentral Video, our flagship service for video conferencing, which provides advantages over RingCentral Meetings, such as browser-based operation, Team Huddle, and enhanced security features.
Why is RingCentral delisting the RC Phone Mobile App?
The RingCentral App delivers a comprehensive Message, Video, and Phone experience. This application is available on both desktop and mobile devices. To fully enjoy our trusted, intuitive, and unified communications experience, we encourage you to use this application moving forward, which will include the latest feature and security updates.
When will the delisting occur?
RingCentral will delist and discontinue support for the RingCentral Phone Mobile App, RingCentral Meetings Desktop and Mobile Apps, and RingCentral Meetings Plugin for Outlook on December 10, 2021.
Where will the delisting occur?
The RingCentral apps that are part of the delisting will be removed from the following:
How will the delisting impact me?
You will be impacted by the delisting if:
  • You are not already blocked from using the RingCentral Phone Mobile App.
  • You had access to RingCentral Meetings.
  • You are already excluded from sunset will still be able to use the apps. RingCentral will no longer release updates or security patches to the affected applications.
  • You are a new user; you will not find the app in the store or on websites.
During the delisting, you can still:
  • Continue to use the RingCentral Meetings video service through the unified RingCentral App.
  • Manage your RingCentral Meetings calendaring through RingCentral Scheduler.
  • Access RingCentral Meetings for Linux until it is delisted in 2022.
  • Continue with your existing billing cycle because there are no changes to pricing or billing.
However, you cannot:
  • Find the RingCentral Meetings app or the RingCentral Meetings Outlook Plug-in in the app stores, support downloads site, or RingCentral app gallery.
  • Submit support requests because you will be redirected to download and use RingCentral App, RingCentral Mobile App, or RingCentral Scheduler.
How does this impact federated accounts?
Account federation is the “linking” of distinct companies within the account, such that users across different companies appear as users on the same Company Directory.
For example, you are a company with a large user base split across multiple accounts for capacity and performance needs.
Another example is a large retail or financial institution with many individual branches but the need for individual configuration and billing for sites on a single account.
If you are only using the Phone functionality and have never logged into the RingCentral App before, users across different companies appear as a single Company Directory. However, suppose one or more companies had Messaging enabled on the RingCentral App (regardless of whether they use it or not). In that case, users across different companies in the federation will appear as guests.
I have meetings already scheduled, what will happen?
You will need to update any recurring meetings with new RingCentral Video dial-in phone numbers and meeting IDs. You can do this in bulk for your users or catch any meetings they might have missed with the RingCentral Calendar Migration Tool.
Once I transition to RingCentral Video, can I still use or keep RingCentral Meetings for meetings?
No, once the transition is complete, you will use RingCentral Video for all of your video meeting needs. You will no longer be able to access RingCentral Meetings analytics or recordings, so please retain a copy for your records before your account’s upgrade.
What will happen when I log into the standalone RingCentral apps or the plugin?
The login will show as failed, and you will receive a prompt to log into the RingCentral App instead.
What if I use the Phone + Messaging federation and want all users across federated companies to appear as co-workers and not as guests?
Messaging federation requires identifying a primary company that will own all messaging data (teams, chat history, tasks, events, etc.) across companies. Other companies will be one-time cleared of their Messaging history and teams. After the transition to federation with Messaging, they will be able to use Messaging fully and retain their history going forward.
You must upgrade to the latest version of the RingCentral App on mobile and desktop. You will be logged out during configuration changes. There is a limit of 10K users across all companies in the federation.
Please contact RingCentral Support to discuss handling and coordinating dates to perform configuration changes.
Can users have both the RingCentral Meetings apps and RingCentral apps installed simultaneously?
No. If your users do not uninstall the RingCentral Meetings desktop and mobile app and install the RingCentral app, they will have trouble joining or hosting a meeting from a calendar invite link.
Will my account settings remain the same?
No. When you transition to RingCentral Video, your account settings will also convert to RingCentral Video-specific meeting settings. Learn how to administer RingCentral Video settings for your account.
Does the transition change the cost of my existing plan?
No. When you transition to RingCentral Video, your account settings will also convert to RingCentral Video-specific meeting settings. Learn how to administer RingCentral Video settings for your account.
How can I request access to RingCentral Meetings if still needed?
Please contact RingCentral Support.
