Enterprise network settings when upgrading from
RingCentral Meetings to RingCentral Video 

Upgrading from RingCentral Meetings to RingCentral Video (RCV) makes starting, scheduling, and joining online meetings easy. However, to ensure RingCentral Video operates properly, the network requirements and Quality of Service (QoS) guidelines must be met:
  • Network requirements cover domain, IP address, and cloud destination port requirements for firewall operation.
  • Quality of Service guidelines provide directions for traffic prioritization so that minimum end-to-end voice and video path quality requirements are met.

RingCentral Meetings to RingCentral Video upgrade process

The account administrator should have already disabled RingCentral Meetings and enabled the RingCentral Video service, and Enterprise users or administrators must have installed the RingCentral RCV app. Reach out to the enterprise IP administrator if this has not been completed.

Network requirements

  • Remove all enterprise firewall and network device settings for RingCentral Meetings as indicated in Network requirements | RingEX Tables 3.2.8 and 3.2.9.
  • Apply enterprise firewall setting for RCV as indicated in Network requirements | RingEX Tables 3.1, 3.2.2, 3.2.3, and 3.2.4. Note that when the RingEX app is used in combination with RingCentral Video, then also the settings of Table 3.2.1 must be applied.

Quality of service guidelines

Apply the Quality of service guidelines, including firewalls, routers, layer 3 switches, and WiFi access points.

Bandwidth and capacity assessment

Please ensure that the RingCentral bandwidth and network capacity assessment is performed when upgrading from RingCentral Meetings to RCV.

Testing video connection quality

Execute the following test to assess the video connection quality:
  1. Visit https://rcv.testrtc.com/.
  2. Enter the email address and reason for conducting the test.
  3. Click Start.
  4. Copy the URL after the test so that RingCentral support can look at them if necessary.
Testing your video connection quality
  1. The test result has the following meaning:
  • Location: Indicates such information as the external IP address of the firewall and ISP provider.
  • Bandwidth Speed: Indicates the local Internet Service Provider (ISP) link capacity.
    • The Uplink and Downlink speed must minimally be equal to the total bandwidth to the video traffic produced by/received by all endpoints together, plus some margin for regular business traffic.
    • The Jitter indicates the measured jitter and when it exceeds a threshold of 100 msec (in red).
  • Ping: Indicates the roundtrip time of packets to the RingCentral cloud. This value should ideally stay below 150 msec.
  • DNS Lookup: Indicates that a domain server can be reached to resolve RCV domain names to IP addresses.
  • Turn Connectivity: Indicates that the RingCentral cloud can be reached.
  • Video Bandwidth: Indicates the amount of bandwidth used by an RCV video session and when it exceeds thresholds.
  • Play Video: indicates that RingCentral Video signaling and media firewall ports are properly configured.
Note: If any parameters are out of range, this may indicate that some network requirements are not met, firewall settings are incorrect, or ISP connection quality is insufficient. This requires more in-depth troubleshooting.
